Man faces multiple charges after running from deputies

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- WINK News is learning new details about a man who tried to run over a deputy, forcing the officer to open fire.

Police say Brooks ran from authorities at a Hess gas station in the 5500 block of Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres early Sunday morning. According to authorities, he rammed a deputy’s vehicle with his car and then drove towards another officer.

Officials say Brooks’s girlfriend and her two young children were in the car at the time.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Brooks went before a judge Monday morning. He is facing multiple charges including two counts of aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer.

Brooks is a convicted felon and has a long history of being arrested and convicted in Lee County. He was recently released from prison on burglary charges.

Family members tell  WINK News the kids are okay. The Department of Children and Families has been notified about this incident

Brooks will be back in court on November 24th.
