NAPLES, Fla.- The 90-year-old Naples man left outside of his nursing home and forgotten about for hours has died.

Robert Bernard died this morning in hospice care in Bonita Springs.

Collier County deputies arrived to The Aristocrat last week after Bernard was found alone outside in the 90 degree heat.

He was left outside for at least three hours in a wheel chair. Officials say he had a body temperature of 105, was suffering from heat stroke, dehydration and later cardiac arrest.

He was in critical condition until yesterday when he was transferred to a hospice.

The nursing home expressed their condolences to the Bernard family. They have also terminated the employees who were involved in this incident.

Several agencies including the Collier County Sheriff's Office and DCF are now investigating the facility.

The Agency of Health Care Administration is also investigating and tells WINK News workers visited the facility twice last week.

This isn't the first time the nursing home has been investigated.

A WINK News investigation found that The Aristocrat has been fined several times after allegations of neglect and abuse.
