FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man and his dog were injured in a shooting at the intersection of Zana Dr. And Dellena Ln. last night.

Authorities have identified the victim as 32-year-old Tony Persons.

Persons was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital as a trauma alert but authorities say he is now out of surgery and recovering.

A dog belonging to Persons was also struck by a stray bullet during the shooting.

According to Lee County Domestic Animal Services, the dog is doing well and should be discharged later today.

Witnesses say a black SUV was involved in the shooting and fled the scene moments before officers arrived.
