LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The pilot found at fault in the crash of a medical helicopter in 2009 will get money for worker's compensation.
Commissioners today approved a settlement of $725,000 for Diana Tackett.
Tackett was at the controls of a MedStar chopper when it crashed into the waters off Captiva Island.
Investigators found she was at fault in the crash.
However, the worker's compensation system does not assign or recognize fault in its operations.
Lee County is giving Tackett the money to receive more treatment and rehabilitation for her on-the-job injuries.
Lee's insurance company will reimburse the county for the money.
