LEE COUNTY, Fla.- In a 3 to 2 vote, the school board opted out of standardized testing leaving parents split on the controversial decision.
The question nearly everyone is asking is, what now? That's a question the school board doesn't really have the answer too. There's also the question of funding, some parents are fearful it's going to disappear.
While the Lee County School Board looks to answer many questions, parents are already voicing their opinions.
"We can rejoice! Finally we are done with the mandatory, time involved, or prepping for the tests, for having the schools rewarded or punished based upon test scores, its been a ridiculous, ridiculous run," says one parent.
Another parent says, "I am not a fan of what the school board did last night. I don't think we have a plan set in action, and I wish they had something, a plan worked out before they cancelled what we have."
