CAPE CORAL, Fla.- There's a beer and pizza lounge on Cape Coral Pkwy. that may be called "Nice Guys" but the message posted on their door Thursday morning was anything but nice.

For Monday's hours, instead of closed it read, "F*** OFF".

Nearby business owners have called it "unprofessional" and downright "apalling".

Across the parkway at Envy Salon, hairdresser Stacie Harmon is offended because she has a 12-year-old daughter.

"I would not like her to see that, I don't think that that's how you run a business and I woulldn't want her to think that that's ok," said Harmon.

The complaints eventually reached the owners, who WINK News has learned are out of town on vacation. They asked a friend to remove the sign and it was gone by noon Thursday.

On the Nice Guys Facebook page, the owners wrote:

"We're super sorry if we offended anyone with our sign out front. Those of you who know us probably know that our sense of humor is never malicious. We didn't intend to upset anyone."

"I'm proud of them for taking it down, and I understand everyone's sense of humor, but that's just a little bit strong," said Harmon.

"I'm happy that they took the sign down but I just think that people need to know that they put out great product and the owners are really good people," Nice Guys patron Lisa Maglione told WINK News.

City spokeswoman Connie Baron says they were aware of the complaints and tried to contact the owners to ask them to remove the sign.

However, she also added that while the sign my be offensive, it did not violate city code because it did not meet the criteria for an "obscene" sign because it did not show a "morbid interest in nudity or sex".
