LEE COUNTY, Fla.- State Representatives Dane Eagle and Matt Caldwell both won their respective primaries on Tuesday. Caldwell is unopposed in the November general election, Eagle is facing a write-in challenger.
In district 77, incumbent Dane Eagle finished with 64% of the vote for the Republican primary. Runner-up Jim Roach finished with 16%. This comes months after Eagle pleaded no contest to reckless driving charges stemming from a DUI arrest earlier in the year. Eagle says he's learned from his mistakes and holds himself to a higher standard.
In district 79, which covers part of Lehigh Acres, Caldwell had 61% of the vote, to his challenger Matt Miller's 39%.
