LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- A man is recovering after getting stuck in a storm drain and nearly drowning.

It happened around 10 a.m. on Wings Way, right outside the Hope Hospice Center.

Firefighters tell WINK News the man had just parked his car when he dropped his keys down a storm drain.

They say he lifted the gate off to get his keys and accidentally fell into the drain headfirst.

A hospice volunteer called 911 and Lehigh firefighters had to act quickly because they say the man was screaming for help and saying he was having trouble breathing.

The man was taken to Lehigh Regional Hospital.

Firefighters say he did not have serious injuries but was pretty shaken-up.
