ESTERO, Fla.- The father accused of sleeping while two kids under his care left home and got lost in the woods took a plea deal in court this morning.

Cole Michael Thomas will serve five years of probation for child neglect.

Thomas was arrested back in June when his two children wandered off from their RV at the Covered Wagon Mobile Home Park.

The search for 3-year-old Innocence Davis and 2-year-old Caspian Thomas sparked a massive hours-long search.

Both children were later found dehydrated and dirty.

Police say the children got out through an unlocked door.

By taking the plea deal in court, Thomas admitted to falling asleep. He must also take a parenting class.
Rachel Davis, the children's mother who was also sleeping, also took a plea deal and is out on five years probation.

The children are currently in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
