SANIBEL, Fla.- The Sanibel Causeway was briefly closed this afternoon due to a vehicle fire.
No one was injured.
The bridge has since reopened.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, an RV caught fire and is now a total loss.
The owner of the RV told WINK News he is disabled, that he homeschools his daughter and takes his family to the causeway for recreation. They were reportedly under the bridge when they saw flames coming from the vehicle, which burned quickly. He said they lost all of her books, his medical brace and asthma nebulizer.
