COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- "I'm just a firefighter, I love cooking, cooking is a hobby of mine and a love of mine."

Lieutenant Craig Weinbaum with the East Naples Golden Gate Fire Department is taking his job and his hobby to a national stage.

"It's called the Steak-umm fire house challenge," said Lt. Weinbaum.

The competition asks firefighters to prepare a dish using frozen Steak-umm's.

"They wanted it to be original and creative. I tried a couple different recipes. I went kind of a Asian style and I tried and ended up with the Italian style. It's called a Steak-umm stuffed roulade contadina and I stuffed the Steak-umm with homemade pesto, fontana cheese, and sauteed spinach and i made a really hearty contadina tomato sauce."

Lt. Weinbaum often cooks up meals at fire station 21. And if he wins the competition, a $20,000 grand prize will go towards helping the station protect their equipment.

"We keep our gear on storage racks, all these trucks are diesel trucks and they're not vented, so these trucks basically put off diesel soot and our gear is in the elements. So to be able to take fire fighting, cooking , and putting all that together, it's just pretty awesome."
