ENGLEWOOD, Fla.- A truck that was reported stolen last Friday and then located on Saturday was stolen again, just hours after the owner got it back.
The victim initially reported that his 2005, gold, Dodge, 4-door pickup truck, was stolen out of the driveway of his Humboldt Street home. He said that he had last seen his truck at about 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, but noticed it was missing mid-day on Friday.
After conducting their investigation, deputies listed the vehicle as stolen in the nationwide computer system.
Early Saturday morning, deputies responded to the area of Mississippi Avenue and Placida Road, concerning a vehicle that had been abandoned in the roadway. A check of the tag, M787NC, confirmed it was the Dodge pickup reported stolen the previous day. The vehicle was processed for evidence and eventually returned to the owner.
However, about two hours after the vehicle was returned to the owner, it was taken again.
At the time of the second theft, the rear window of the truck had been smashed. The attached photo is not the actual vehicle, but representative of what it would look like. The actual vehicle has two silver colored diamond plated tool boxes in the bed of the truck, one toward the front and one toward the rear of the bed.
Anyone with information on the location of the vehicle or the identity of the person who took it is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
