San Carlos Park, FL.- One person is injured after a road rage incident Saturday morning near a Circle K gas station in San Carlos Park.

It happened at the intersection of Tamiami Trail and Sanibel Boulevard. Deputies have not released details, but sent WINK News this statement.

"The incident was related to road rage and one subject was transported to the hospital for treatment from injuries sustained as a result of a confrontation. The investigation is ongoing," said Lee County Sheriff's spokesperson Tony Schall.

One witness, who did not want to be identified, told WINK News his friend was shot about four times and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

"Me and my buddies on motorcycles were coming back and an F150 cut him off...He pulled into this Circle Shell right here and I blocked him in," the witness said. "My buddy walked up to his window and the guy pulled out a gun and started shooting at us. [He] shot my buddy multiple times."

The witness told WINK News the man in the truck then took off. The witness said he tried to chase him but lost control and hit a couple of cars on U.S. 41, including the truck.

"A tire got lodged under his truck and he ran into a ditch and that's where they found him right there, stopped him, put him in custody, found the gun I guess," he said. "I'm shaken up. This is crazy. I've never been shot at before."
