LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Starting on Monday, August 18, the I-75 southbound ramp to Alico Road will be permanently relocated 1.7 miles north of its current location.

The new location is about one mile south of the Daniels Parkway exit. Crews will close the current southbound exit ramp to Alico Road at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17. When the ramp reopens, it will be in its new location 1.7 miles north of Alico Road.

Beginning at 11:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, crews will permanently close the existing southbound exit ramp at Alico Road to stripe the roadway and relocate signs.

To access Alico Road when the southbound exit to Alico Road is closed Sunday night, I-75 drivers southbound can use the Daniels Parkway exit (#131), travel east on Daniels Parkway, and travel south on Treeline Avenue/Ben Hill Griffin Boulevard to Alico Road.

Beginning at 5:00 a.m. Monday crews will open the southbound exit ramp to Alico Road in its new permanent location, about a mile south of Daniels Parkway.

Drivers will follow the lane parallel to the interstate under the new Direct Connect bridge and continue down the ramp to Alico Road. The exit number will remain #128.

Work on the I-75 - Airport Direct Connect project continues during daytime and nighttime hours to pave the northbound parallel lanes, work on the bridge over I-75 and install guardrail. Crews are also constructing the bridge over Ben Hill Griffin Boulevard/Treeline Avenue. This project builds a direct connection from I-75 to Southwest Florida International Airport. Expected project completion is spring 2015. Cost of the job is $54.1 million. The design/build contractor is Stantec (C3TS)/Prince.
