FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - For the second year in a row the Grouper Grapple Offshore Fishing Tournament is underway in Southwest Florida.

The tournaments main goal is to raise awareness for two organizations, The Marine Corps Association Foundation Wounded Marine Support Program and Freedom Alliance. Both organizations serve our Military Heroes both physically and mentally.

Last year more than 250 people took in the action. Watching 17 teams made up of 91 anglers, fish, compete and weigh in their catches.

The winning team last year took home a payout of $13,000, and a check for $3,000 was presented to the Marine Corps Association Foundation. This year, event organizers are hoping to exceed the purse and donation amount.

The Grouper Grapple also honors our military heroes with a day of freedom and fun on Southwest Florida's waters, covering travel expenses and pairing them up with a seasoned local captain for fishing on the Back Bay.

The highlight of the event starts around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, when the anglers arrive back to Fish Tail Marina with their catches and begin the weigh-in. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
