Charlotte County, FL.--Hundreds of people came together  to remember a deputy killed in the line of duty.
Sergeant Michael Wilson was gunned down a year ago while responding to a domestic disturbance call at the Lakes of Tuscana apartment complex in Port Charlotte.

Tonight the Charlotte Stone Crabs baseball team honored Wilson and retired his number and permanently put it on display it at the park.

"We want to remember Mike for the Deputy Sheriff he was, for the father he was, for the husband he was," said Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell.

"it is truly our honor to honor and retire Sgt. Wilson's number," said Stone Crabs general manager Jared Forma.
