FORT MYERS, Fla.- The vehicle used in yesterday morning's Circle K robbery has been recovered. Investigators learned the 2013 Nissan Altima was taken during a carjacking, reported on Sunday from the Walgreens, located at 1525 Colonial Boulevard.
The vehicle belonged to a Cape Coral couple. The vehicle's owner was just getting to work Sunday morning, when police say three suspects held her at gunpoint and told her to fall to the ground.
"How would you like it if it was somebody you loved," says Jeff Yeary, the victims husband. "Your mom, sister?"
Around 3:00 a.m. Monday, Fort Myers Police responded to a robbery at the Circle K convenience store, located at 2634 Winkler Avenue. Three black males entered the business brandishing firearms, ordered the clerk to the floor and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.
As the perpetrators were exiting the business, a newspaper delivery driver witnessed them get into a black Nissan four-door. The delivery driver fled in his vehicle eastbound on Winkler Avenue. The perpetrators caught up to the delivery driver on Winkler Avenue and fired into his vehicle. The delivery driver was struck and proceeded to drive himself home where he called for medical assistance. The perpetrators continued in an unknown direction.
Lee County Emergency Medical Service transported the delivery driver to the hospital.
Police are still searching for the three masked men, depicted on the video surveillance. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the robbery suspects could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
