CAPE CORAL, Fla.- The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating two incidents of dead cats found with severed body parts in the city.

On Sunday, police were called to a vacant lot on the 2100 block of NE 7th Place. The person reporting the incident said he had been walking his dog when the two came across the remains of a dead cat whose upper half was cleanly severed and missing. He showed the officer where the remains were located and according to police, the cat's injuries did not appear to be the work of another animal.

Animal Control was called to the scene. That officer collected the remains. A micro-chip was not found.

A previous incident had been reported in which the cat's injuries were very similar in nature.

If you have any information, you are asked to call police at (239) 574-3223.
