LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The Lee County Department of Transportation is doing a project to improve pedestrian safety at the south Fort Myers intersection of Daniels Parkway and Plantation Road.

Plantation Road will be closed north of Daniels to Commerce Park Drive from Monday through next Friday. Traffic will be detoured around the closure using Metro Parkway and Commerce Park Drive. Work is expected to be completed before Lee County School District students return from summer break Aug. 18.

The project will extend the sidewalk on Plantation to connect it to the pathway on Daniels, and the concrete traffic separator on Plantation is expected to stop left turns in and out of Plantation Park Court. A posted no-left-turn sign already exists on Plantation at that turn, but this project is expected to boost safety for pedestrians.
