PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Punta Gorda Police responded to an armed robbery at the Bank of America, located on the corner of US 41 at Madrid Blvd., this afternoon.

According to police, a white male standing about 6-feet-tall, wearing a light blue shirt and jeans entered the bank wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap. He showed the teller a handgun and took an undisclosed amount on money.

The man fled on foot and is still at large.

Police are putting crime scene tape around the bank.

Patrol vehicles from both PGPD and the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office are on the scene. K9 units are sniffing the streets.
