FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.- WINK News is learning new details about that deadly lightning strike on Fort Myers Beach, as we hear from one of the victims for the first time.

Chelsea Gill, 16, spoke exclusively with our partners at the News-Press. She relived the moments when a lightning bolt struck her and her boyfriend, 14-year-old Zac Latawiec, earlier this week.

Gill is out of the hospital, but Latawiec is in a medically-induced coma.

Another man, 41-year-old Scott Wilcox, died in the strike.

Gill told the News-Press, "In the beginning, we were all happy, giggling and laughing," but then they heard thunder and started running. She heard a loud sound and everything went black.

She said she "opened up one eye and saw Zac lying there. I realized it was raining, and I saw burns on my arms and legs, and I saw a burn on Zac's chest."

In that exclusive interview, the teen's mom said Scott Wilcox basically saved their lives and that Gill wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him.
