Local high school baseball players hit the field at Jet Blue Developmental Park for the Perfect Game 17U Florida State Championship. Southwest Florida 17U Gray had been dominant all tournament long, riding a 7 game win streak to the championship game against the Elite Squad Sluggers.

The game was tied 2-2 after the regulation 7 innings, so the championship would be decided in extra innings.

In the bottom of the 8th, Southwest Florida would have the winning run on first with two outs.

Brandon Hernandez hit a long line drive to center field. Chris Berry came all the way from first, but was gunned down at the plate to end the inning.

In the 9th, the game was still tied at 2, but SWFL had bases loaded for Connor Roe (Gulf Coast HS).

Roe would watch ball four for a walk, and the winning run would score from third.

Southwest Florida wins, 3-2.
