CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Southwest Florida may be one of the hottest spots in America for job growth, and it's affecting home values.

As prices have increased over the past 4 years, the inventory has fallen dramatically, which could raise the value of your home. It's a sign that more people are coming here, because there are more jobs.

Danielle Aldridge and her husband recently moved to Cape Coral.

"I got hired on the spot, I walked out of there, I was like 'oh my goodness I just got a really great job'!" She's one of about 70 people hired at The Boathouse, a restaurant that opened its doors a couple of months ago.

"It's a tremendous payroll that I'm running every week. And you know, luckily the restaurant is doing very well, we're busy," said General Manager Mickey Ferry.

According to a brand new report in Forbes magazine, Cape Coral is one of the top ten cities in America for future job growth, saying Florida added retail jobs at the fastest rate of any state last year, which is expected to continue.

The report also says there are a lot of jobs in healthcare, leisure and hospitality in our area.

As realtor Marc Joseph explains, people that find a stable job eventually buy a home.
And right now the demand is higher than ever in southwest Florida.

"Now is the time to buy. As jobs come to our area. This means more people. And as we've just gone through the graph, the more people that come, when you have a little bit of inventory, prices will continue to rise," said Joseph.

He says the competition is heating up. "Just about anything that is good and priced right, whether a foreclosure, or a resale, it will hit multiple offers."

Here's more good news -- Forbes says Naples is the best city in America for future job growth.

As for The Boathouse? They plan to hire even more people as season gets here.
