CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested Joey Pinhiero, 20, yesterday after they say he shot at another vehicle on I-75 in a road rage incident.

The two vehicles involved exited I-75 at Tucker's Grade and the victim went to nearby deputies, explaining what had happened. Deputies stopped the suspect's vehicle on Tucker's Grade near Lamontier Rd.

The victim said he was cut off several times by the suspect while driving on southbound I-75 through Charlotte County. The suspect reportedly pulled up next to the victim and began waving a firearm around inside the vehicle. The victim sped up to get the suspect's tag number when he was shot at. The window was almost completely shattered. He didn't want to let the suspect get away, so he followed him when he exited at Tucker's Grade. The victim's passenger corroborated the story.

Deputies spoke with Pinhiero, but his interview was redacted from the report.

A witness, who was a few car-lengths back, said he saw someone from the suspect's vehicle hold something black out of the window and aim it at the victim's window. He saw the window shatter and saw the driver swerve away from the suspect.

Pinheiro was reportedly cooperative and allowed a search of his vehicle. Deputies found a Crosman CO2 cartridge inside.

Deputies later located a black BB gun in the grassy area off I-75 and the Tucker's Grade off-ramp. It was a Crosman Survivalist that had a CO2 cartridge inside, that matched the one found in the vehicle.

Pinhiero was then arrested and now faces charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and discharging a firearm from a vehicle in public.
