COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - FHP confirms to WINK News that a driver took off on foot last night after the car he was in went up in flames.

It happened near just before 10 p.m. at mile marker 114 I-75 near the Lee and Collier County line. The vehicle fire closed the southbound lanes for hours.

At this point, we don't know why that driver ran off. Troopers and Collier County deputies are both involved in the search.

FHP later released the name of the driver, 23-year-old Cameron Schlagel. According to the report, flames engulfed the engine compartment and front seats. North Naples Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames.
