Naples, Fla,. - Naples Police just put out a warning about a distraction burglary in Park Shore.  Neighbors tell Wink News this isn't the first time its happened in their area.

"They like to pick on senior citizens," said neighbor Donald Leddy.

Leddy has lived in Park Shore for the past 18 years.  He wasn't surprised to hear that burglars targeted his elderly neighbor.

"They come here,  its an affluent neighborhood," said Leddy.  "They're not going to go to a poor neighborhood and rob them.  They're going to come here."

Detectives say on Wednesday, a man claiming to be from a landscaping company knocked on the elderly woman's door and told her he was cutting trees in the area.  While they were in the back yard, a woman accompanying the man in a white van ran into the house and stole two pieces of jewelry from a bedroom.  The pieces were worth $45 hundred.

"Well I'm very sorry to hear that because she's a sweet lady," said neighbor Stan Lipp.

Lipp says he keeps all of his valuables in a safety deposit box for this very reason.

"The traffic is so fast and there's so much of it, I did not think it could happen here," said Lipp.

Wink News found out this same woman was targeted by a distraction burglar almost a year ago to the day.  Neighbors say people, especially the elderly should not be so trusting.

"People don't pay attention," said Leddy.  "Oh its not gonna happen to me.  Guess what?  You're the first one its gonna happen to if you're not vigilant."

Anyone with information is asked to call Naples Police.
