CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Cape Coral Police want to warn residents of a texting scam happening in nearby jurisdictions.

Scammers are sending bank customers a message that their debit/credit cards have been blocked and they need to click on the link to reactivate them. Once you click the link, it asks for personal information such as SSN, card numbers, PINs, names, addresses, etc.

Do not click the link or provide any information! According to police, banks and/or credit card companies do not do this. Immediately contact law enforcement and make a report.

If you have any doubts as to whether your own bank card or account have been compromised, contact your bank or credit card company directly, using a phone number you know and trust. Never use a link or phone number embedded in an unsolicited e-mail or text message.
