CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Some of your favorite places to shop and eat are under construction in Cape Coral. WINK News is learning these big name brands mean big business for the city.
Drive across the Cape Coral bridge and you won't be able to miss a Culver's under construction. Continue on your journey, and you'll see Starbucks. Both of these are expected to open by the end of the year.
At Pine Island Road and Hancock Bridge Parkway, you can see the shell of a Sam's Club, which is expected to open early 2015.
"It's wonderful. It attracts people, and you can go and buy different things at better prices," said one Cape Coral resident.
These are some of the big projects currenty under construction, adding up to millions of dollars in economic growth.
Economic Development Director Dana Brunett tells WINK News it all boils down to money, and an economy that is improving.
He says the city has been aggressively advertising, as well, promoting itself across the country and even internationally, and says these new names will give residents more choices, and will help local businesses as well.
Dan Puleio works at Cape Cleaners, and is already seeing a positive impact. "I've already had people coming in on a steady basis. I'm sure it's just going to bring more people more growth, more development."
The city is also attracting a WaWa. Another neighborhood WalMart is also slated to be built near the VA Center.
