LEE COUNTY, Fla.- U.S. Senator Bill Nelson made a stop in Southwest Florida today. The senator is concerned about oil drilling and its potential effects on the Everglades.

He talked with a group of Collier County homeowners at Southwest Florida International Airport. They are against the recent unauthorized activity at the Collier-Hogan well, near Lake Trafford.

Although the senator never said he wants to close the well, he does want the EPA to step in.

"There's clearly a federal interest here. On behalf of the people of Florida and the United States. And I intend to make sure that interest is protected," said Senator Nelson.
