NAPLES, Fla.- A Naples prosthetist will start the process to give a toddler, mauled by her grandfather's pit bulls, a new eye today.

Raymond Peters is expected to fit 3-year-old Victoria Wilcher with the mold for a prosthetic eye. Her story spread across the US after her family claimed they were told to leave a Mississippi KFC because of her appearance.

KFC said they found no evidence to support the claims.

Despite the investigation Peters said his desire to help the little girl hasn't changed, but it will take awhile.

"She has no lower lid, and I have to basically graft one. That's gonna take a while. I can start her, but in my opinion, she probably won't get a full artificial eye on this trip," said Peters.

Peters is lending his services toward the surgery for free.

Wilcher will need to get a new eye about every six months as she continues to grow.
