LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The ringleader of a Southwest Florida food stamp fraud operation will spend three years in prison.

Michael Schnatter is the owner of Blue Ribbon Steak and Seafood. He pleaded guilty to trading $1 million worth of funds on EBT cards for cash back in June.

Schnatter said a former contractor was responsible for the illegal dealings, but went to police as an informant and turned the crimes around on him.

As part of his sentence, Schnatter must stay away from the confidential informant.
