FORT MYERS, FL - It has happened here in Lee county and across the country. Distracted parents, accidentally leaving their children in the back seat of their car as they go to work or to shop. Even on an overcast day the temperature inside a sealed vehicle can climb 3 degrees every 5 minutes. Enough to kill a child or pet.

The Fort Myers News - Press has started a campaign to help parents remember their kids in back seat. The "Never LEFT in a hot car" campaign asks parents to take off their left shoe and place it in the back seat with your child. When you arrive at your destination, you are not likely to walk away from the car without your shoe, or more importantly, your child. The idea is going viral, with tens of thousands of LIKES and SHARES on Facebook.
