COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - WINK News is hearing for the first time, the 911 call from the night of a hit and run in Collier County.  Neighbors have complained that speeding is a problem in the neighborhood near Lorenzo Walker Technical Institute.  The victim, 51-year-old Fredy Gularte, was taken by medical helicopter to Lee Memorial Hospital.  A witness made a frantic 911 call to deputies after finding Gularte in the middle of the street on Monday night.

CALLER: "Hey you got a body laying in the middle of the road at Estey and Central Avenue.  I mean laying right in the middle of the road."  "I see a shoe way down, about 20 feet away from him.  He's trying to get up. You need to get somebody here real quick."

Deputies tell Wink News they don't have a description of the driver or of the car that hit Gularte. But, the impact was catastrophic.

CALLER:  "Really gashed open.  He looks like his leg's all bent up.  His head's wide open.  He's bleeding though.  He's laying here.  You need to get somebody here real quick."

Only Wink News cameras were rolling as paramedics loaded Gularte into a medical helicopter headed for Lee Memorial Hospital.  He's now recovering in the ICU.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
