OUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Punta Gorda Police arrested four people Monday evening, after responding to 5601 Almar Drive for a well-being check of some unattended cats.
Upon arrival, officers found lights on inside the vacant residence. As officers approached the residence, a man looked out the rear sliding door. Officers ordered him and subsequently, another man out of the house. The men said that they were invited to a “house party”, via Facebook. Police reportedly found marijuana on them.
A family member of the homeowner said that the suspects didn't have permission to be there.
Additional responding officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle seen leaving the area of the residence. The driver of the vehicle said they were on the way to the house party. Police said they found more than 20 grams of marijuana and ecstasy pills on a passenger in the vehicle. He was arrested for the drugs and later gained additional charges for introduction of a controlled substance into the jail, when more drugs were found hidden within his sock.
Later in the evening, the caretaker of the residence contacted officers in regard to more individuals attempting to gain entry into the residence.
Officers located the subject’s vehicle attempting to leave the area. The driver of the vehicle, a juvenile, was weaving between lanes and was subsequently stopped on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. Once stopped, the officer on scene immediately noted the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence after failing sobriety tests.
Those arrested include:
• Cayne Carlos Martinez, 18, for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Burglary and Violation of Community Control (Curfew Violation)
• Gene Mathew Cazeau, 19, for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Burglary
• Christopher Francois, 20, for Possession of more than 20 grams of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Ecstasy), Possession with intent to sell, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Introduction of Contraband into a Jail Facility
• A juvenile male was arrested for Driving Under the Influence
