PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - A new business is bubbling up in Punta Gorda this summer, and will be the only one of its kind in Charlotte County.

Before Fat Point Brewery opens next month, WINK News got an exclusive first peek at what's on tap.

Fat Point, the literal English transation of "Punta Gorda," will begin distribution in August, with an IPA.

"I'm excited, I'm stressed, I'm worried, I'm scared that something may happen," said brewmaster and co-owner William Frazer. "But for the most part, it's the adrenaline and the excitement kind of overpowers everything. The 12- to 14-hour days we're putting in -- I can see the light at the end of the tunnel."

Frazer, a Charlotte County native, looks forward to pouring is passion into his hometown with the county's only craft brewery.

"We're really trying to tie in with Punta Gorda, so in the beginning thats what'll set us off, and as we grow, I'm just hoping we make good beer that everyone likes," Frazer said. That's what'll set us apart from someone else."

Frazier is constantly cooking up new, unique brews, like his coffee stout, which contains coffee, cinnamon, allspice and vanilla bean. Frazier says he served the stout at a "beer bruch" last week, alongside another one of his creations: the "beer-mosa."

Frazier says he likes to keep his recipes simple. However, "All of our beers have kind of a little twist," he said.

Fat Point expects to open a tasting room in early September.
