PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested two people Monday on drug distribution charges after a large quantity of marijuana was located during a traffic stop.

After witnessing some suspicious activity, deputies began following a white Pontiac Vibe from the area of Taylor Road and North Jones Loop Road onto northbound I-75. After the vehicle was on the interstate, it sped up to the point it was going faster than the posted speed limit, so the deputies stopped the vehicle near the Duncan Road exit.

Deputies spoke with the driver, 18-year-old Keri Lee Bauch, and her passenger, 18-year-old Brennon Tyler Osborne. After explaining the reason for the traffic stop, the deputies asked for consent to search the car. Bauch declined to give permission, so the deputies called for a K9 deputy to respond.

Both Bauch and Osborne were asked to exit their vehicle. When Osborne got out of the car, deputies could see a plastic bag sticking out from under the seat with a large quantity of marijuana inside. Both Bauch and Osborne were place under arrest. A search of the vehicle resulted in locating several bags that contained more than 220 grams of marijuana.

Bauch and Osborne were both charged with Possession of More than 20 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were booked into the Charlotte County Jail and are being held on a total $17,500 bond each.
