LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - A 19-year-old was killed in a car accident yesterday just before 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Homestead Road and Kimdale Street.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Owen Thomas McGreevy left Pizza Hut, where he worked, in his 2001 Oldsmobile when he attempted to negotiate a right curve at a high rate of speed. McGreevy lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and hit a tree, head on.

Even though he was wearing a seat belt, McGreevy sustained fatal injuries.

LCSO said speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
