COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- "All I heard it sounded like fire crackers and then you could hear a car take off."

Susan Morse said it's not strange to hear fire crackers near her East Naples home. But it is shocking to learn a popping sound that rang out Wednesday night actually came from a gun fired into a neighbor's apartment.

"I mean you hear kids and families and everybody over there all the time but nothing like that," said Morse.

Detectives said a mother and her three year old son were watching TV on Gulfstream Drive when they heard what sounded like gun shots. Then their sliding glass door shattered. The two jumped over their couch, hiding in a nearby hallway.

"I was inside I had the TV up and then I heard some commotion out here, her talking and I came out to make sure she was alright. And said they shot and it went right by her and she was really distraught and upset."

Investigators found bullet holes in the walls and couch. WINK News spoke to the victim over the phone and she said she's fine.

I spoke to the victim's next door neighbor who tells me this isn't the first time he's heard gunfire in his commmunity.

"I was sitting out on the lanai actually and heard some gun shots."

Now he said, it's too dangerous to live in his apartment.

"It's really stressful and I'm tired of it and I'm ready to just get out of this location."

Deputies don't know who pulled the trigger and don't have a description of the suspect. If you have any information, call the Collier County Sheriff's Office at 252-9300.
