FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Historical Preservation Commission has decided to table discussions about demolishing one of the oldest buildings in town.

The building is located on First Street between Broadway and Hendry Street. In a meeting this afternoon, the commission said they were not prepared to approve demolition of the structure without a complete engineers report on structure of the front of the building.

The commission wants to see if the front facade can be salvaged before tearing it down. They will make a decision after seeing that report.
