ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Two people are dead and a third has been taken to a hospital with severe burns after a hit-and-run crash in St. Petersburg.
Police say a Saturn with three women erupted in flames after being hit by another car around 3 a.m. Thursday. Rescue crews found one woman outside of the burning vehicle, but could not rescue the other two. The surviving woman underwent surgery and is listed in critical condition.
The other car, a Chrysler sedan, was empty when authorities arrived at the crash scene. They believe the other driver and any occupants of the vehicle fled on foot before police arrived.
Authorities said that car was seen leaving a bar just before the crash. Investigators have contacted the owner of vehicle, but no other details were released.
