FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers Police have identified the man who drowned near the Caloosahatchee Bridge yesterday as 21-year-old Travis Clarke. 

On Sunday at 4:45 p.m., police responded to a call of a missing swimmer in the river near Centennial Park.

According to witnesses, the Clarke jumped off the pier near the park and failed to resurface. A friend of Clarke's called police for assistance.

Marine resources from the Fort Myers Police Department, Fort Myers Fire Department, Lee County Sheriffs Office, Cape Coral Police Department, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, United States Coast Guard, Iona McGregor Fire Department and Lee County EMS responded to the area to help search for him.

After two hours of searching for Clarke, divers entered the water and discovered his body at the bottom of the river. Police are working the incident as an accidental death and there is no foul play involved.
