FORT MYERS, Fla. - WINK News has confirmed that 19-year-old Mike'Kiria Rogers and 37-year-old Jacqueline Cherry died in this morning's crash on Buckingham Road in Lee County. Florida Highway Patrol initially reported it was 21-year-old Mikia Rogers who was driving, but that has since changed.

Investigators say Cherry was driving east when her Kia hit the grass and started to roll. It then slammed into a tree, killing both women.

Family members tell WINK News they're not ready to talk about the tragedy, said they're dealing with double the loss because the two were mother and daughter. Devastated, they went to the crash scene after hearing what happened.

"It's really difficult to inform family members away from the scene," said Sergeant Norman Parks, Florida Highway Patrol, "but whenever they show up on scene, it becomes so much more difficult to deal with."

Investigators did find a car seat at the scene, but say no child was in the car at the time. Troopers say Rogers and Cherry were not wearing their seat belts.
