NORTH FORT MYERS, FL.--A Lee County woman who is severely sick with cancer was allegedly attacked by a desperate crook.

That victim says a burglar broke in and stole all her medication.
Now she tells only WINK News, she doesn't know how she's going to get the treatment she needs.

The theft happened on Ebson Drive in North Fort Myers, about two miles west of the Shell Factory.

"I was scared to death because I have never had this happen to me before," said Mary Bird.

Bird suffers from stage four colon cancer.

"And they said they don't know if I will live or not," she said.

Bird relies heavily on many medications to help ease the pain, but Thursday,  Bird told Lee County Deputies a thief broke into her home and stole all of her meds.

"This man was in the house and I didn't even know him," said Bird.

Bird says around 8p.m. she walked inside, saw the man rummaging through these cabinets and confronted him.

"I asked him what he was doing and he said none of your business and I said yes it is, this is my house. that's when he knocked me in the head," said Bird.

Bird says the man hit her so hard she fell to the ground, ending up with a large knot on her head.
Deputies say the man then took off on a bike.

The suspect is believed to be an older white male, wearing a blue t-shrt and blur jeans that are ripped off at the knee. The suspect was also wearing a grey baseball cap.

If you think you have seen this man, call Deputies or Crime Stoppers.
