LEHIGH ACRES, Fla --- Lee County deputies are searching for two gunmen, after an armed home invasion in Lehigh Acres.
It happened on Martin Avenue near 28th Street SW around 12:30 am.
The homeowner, Donna, says they have been robbed before.
But Thursday's wake up call was more frightening than ever before.
"Woke up with two black gentleman standing over our heads with guns telling us to get out of bed. We know you have money, give us your money," said Donna.
The men said they knew money was in the home because they saw a work truck in the driveway. Donna says her husband hasn't worked in at least a year.
She says, with guns to their heads, the masked men lead her and her terminally ill husband, to a safe in the home.
"6 guns are missing, but they are very high voltage, high powered guns," said Donna.
They threatend to kill the couple's dog if it didn't stop barking, and demanded jewelry and cash.
"The jewelry I had on my neck, I just ripped it off and handed it to them," said Donna.
The suspects then stole the couple's car.
That car was found four blocks away, abandoned.
Donna says she's sure the job was planned.
"After investigating, they found cigarette butts. Stood and waited out the back door where they waited for me to go to bed and gave me enough time to go to bed," said Donna.
