COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Collier County deputies were busy Thursday afternoon. Deputies pulled over two men on Immokalee Road, in connection with a search warrant for a possible marijuana grow house.

Both suspects were standing outside of the car, handcuffed. That's when Ivan Mondeja, from Miami, reportedly tried to make a run for it and he was hit by a car.

WINK News was on scene when Mondeja was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The suspects are facing multiple charges including marijuana trafficking.

Amd just down the street from the accident scene, on Kari Island Drive, WINK News watched as investigators removed at least two truckloads of large brown bags of evidence. The bags were labeled "plants." We noticed a strong smell of marijuana.

I spoke to neighbors who said they've never seen anything like this before in their neighborhood.

"Those people, they're renters. And they're not very friendly. The new owners are renting it out, so we dont know who they are but they're not very sociable, no."

The Collier County Sheriff's Office has not said whether the two cases are related.
