CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Fort Myers Police arrested the man accused of attempting to rob a Sunoco gas station yesterday evening, after he had been reported missing by his wife earlier that same day.

Michael Meagher faces charges of Robbery and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Cape Coral Police Detectives were working to find the 58-year-old after his wife reported him missing. She said that he left her at a gas station last night after an argument, but that she later located their vehicle on Veterans Parkway, just west of the tolls on the shoulder of the eastbound lane.

He allegedly told her that he could no longer live.

In the meantime, he allegedly entered the gas station at 2907 Cleveland Ave., showed the cashier a knife and demanded money. The cashier gave him money from the register, but when the Meagher turned to leave, the owner of the gas station tackled him until police arrived.

Officers reportedly found a glass pipe in Meagher's pocket, that tested positive for cocaine, at the time of his arrest.

Meagher is currently in custody at Lee County Jail.
