ESTERO, Fla. -- If you're looking for something to do this summer, how about taking a kayak trip and exploring some of the historic water ways of Southwest Florida.
The College of Life Foundation is offering to take you and your family on the water, giving you a front row seat to Florida history and nature.
One of their featured kayak trips takes you down the Estero River. Home to the Koreshan settlers in the late 1800's to early 1900's.
As you make your way East to West down the river running into the Estero Bay. You'll see some of Southwest Florida's pristine birds, feeding and nesting, even an occasional alligator. Guides also share the rich history the river has as you visit the Koreshan State Historic Site and Mound Key.
The tour is the perfect trip for beginners, as the river, a designated Florida paddling trail has no boat traffic running East from the launch point.
