WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A 24-year-old Florida man faces contempt of court charges for Facebook posts he made while serving as a juror.
The Palm Beach Post (http://bit.ly/1iKT6pj ) reports that Alexander Sutton of Boca Raton is believed to be the first person in Palm Beach County to face up to six months in jail for disobeying a judge's order to refrain from using social media to broadcast views on the civil case he was deciding.
Sutton may not be alone. Attorney Spencer Kuvin says he'll ask a judge to find that two other jurors engaged in similar activity during another case.
Kuvin says the activity is far from rare.
Sutton was taken in handcuffs from the courtroom on May 20 after an attorney saw his Facebook rants and alerted the judge.
