CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Neighbors were startled to see a black bear in the 1300 block of SE 23rd Ave. this morning.

FWC is searching for the animal, though the bear is believed to have retreated into the woods.

According to FWC, their goal is to let it go back from where it came from overnight. Ideally, they do not want to trap the animal.

One neighbor tells WINK News, "All of a sudden this big bear ran in the back of my house, and it absolutely terrified me."

FWC says the bear is probably more afraid of humans than we are of it.

This is the second bear sighting in just two days. Last night, a bear was spotted in NE Cape, on Kismet Parkway, between Andalusia and Del Prado Boulevard.

Officers said two bears and one cub were climbing in the trees, but they won't take any action to capture the bears, unless they enter a residential neighborhood.

"Couldn't believe that he [the bear] had swam across the canal. He couldn't believe he had actually climbed the canal wall," says another nieghbor.
