FORT MYERS, Fla.- The quest for free, on-street parking in Downtown Fort Myers, is undergoing some changes. The City has decided to shorten the free, or Zip Zone, parking on a dozen spots on First Street.

The spots had allowed drivers to park for free for two hours. Now, they're cut to 30 minutes.

Officials say banks and some other businesses wanted more short-term parking for people running quick errands, but some downtown workers are not pleased.

Most of the new 30-minute spots are located across from the federal courthouse, near First and Monroe Streets.
